OAuth2 Steps Empty OAuth2 Steps

Version 3.5 brings highlight text feature, Personality pane and other Composing Mail options.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 3.1
It brings support for Gmail OAuth2 and here are the steps how to enable it:

1. Go to Personality > Properties and click on Checking Mail button.
2. Select OAuth2 from Authentication combo-box. Hit OK.
3. Check mail for the above Personality.
4. GMail authorization site is opened and choose Allow Pandora as shown below.

OAuth2 Steps Empty last step with google

Tue Jan 28, 2020 12:48 pm
I followed your tutorial, everything went fine, except that on the last step, when I click "Allow", the page gets greyd, and it goes on and on. It's been 1h now. I think it's a bug, because I could check my mail... so I'll close these tabs....

I too have tried it several times without success. Still doesn't work on version 3.2.

Simoncu, dcrabb: After you hit Allow, in 4th step, browser will redirect to localhost - at that point it's all done, you can close that browser/tab.

For some reason Google won't accept any other redirect-when-done URL, and since you are not hosting web server, browser just keeps on trying.

Thanks, it works anyway, I had to change the smtp settings though, I had it to secure socket "always (TLS/SSL) with port 587, but that does not work, I put If Availbale(STARTTLS) with the same port and Voilà !!!

Thanks.

FYI: Checking Mail was already set to OAuth2 but Sending Mail was CRAM-MD5. I changed this to OAuth2, clicked OK and received no further screens.

To check if OK I sent myself an email from my gmail account to my non-gmail account. That worked perfectly.

That's strange - at least it is to me - I have Always TLS/SSL on both Checking and Sending and they work fine.  However, I'm using different ports, 993 on Checking and 465 on Sending.

Is port 993 on Checking a typo?

Standard encrypted port for POP/Checking is 995.  Standard encrypted port for SMTP/Sending is 465.

No, I've just double-checked, it's certainly 993.

The standard port for encrypted IMAP is port 993. So, you must be using IMAP for checking message on that particular personality.

Yes, I am.  My first email account (30? years ago) was POP, much later I was given a gmail account which was IMAP.  I found that tricky in Eudora, but easy on Pandora. I never thought the gmail account could be changed to POP.

OAuth2 Steps Empty Problems With Oauth and GMail

Mon Jul 04, 2022 1:06 am
I'm new to Pandora and using version 4.1.9.1

Set send and receive yo OAuth for a GMail account. Attempted to check mail. It jumped to the browser, I signed in to the account, and immediately got a App Blocked screen. I can't find a way around the screen and can't find a way to unblock the Pandora app.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Les

The detailed instructions shown at the top of the post are the key to success.  Read through the complete instructions before trying to set up OAuth2 authorization.

If you have problems, you must have not correctly followed the instructions.  When I setup my accounts, I had no problem with the OAuth2 authorization.

I would recommend starting over, carefully recording how Pandora was setup, and the results for each step.

I did attempt to follow the instructions!
DID THIS. 1. Under Personality > Properties > Checking/Sending Mail select OAuth2 from Authentication combo-box. Hit OK.
DID THIS. 2. Check mail for the above Personality.

This is when it jumped to the browser, I signed in to the account, and immediately got a App Blocked screen.

Did you compare the screenshots at the top of this post to screen you got?

Okay, here are some things to check:
  • The Gmail username and password used to signon to Gmail is the same username and password specified in the Pandora Personality.
  • Do not use the Gmail App Specific password generated for Eudora.
  • For Checking Mail, specify POP Server: pop.gmail.com, Account Type: POP, Authentication: OAuth2, Secure Sockets: Always (TLS/SSL), and Port: 995.
  • For Sending Mail, specify SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com, Authentication: OAuth2, Secure Sockets: Always (TLS/SSL), Port:465, and Relay Personality: None.

Open Gmail in your browser,
  • Click on the gear icon in the top right portion of the window.
  • Slide the mouse pointer down and click on See all settings.
  • Click on the Menu item Accounts.
  • in the Change account settings:, click on Google Account settings, or Other Google Account settings.
  • In the left menu, click on Security
  • Scroll down to the Third-party apps with account access where you will see a list of sites and apps with access to the Google account, click on Manage third-party access.
  • If Pandora is in the list, click on Pandora, and then click on Remove Access button.
  • Sign off from Google and close all Google/Gmail windows.

Now start over with the OAuth2 authorization process by having Pandora check email on the account using OAuth2 authorization:
  • A Google window will open and you will signon to your Gmail account.
  • A Google window will open with Google hasn't verified this app.  Click on Advanced and then click on Go to Pandora(unsafe).
  • A Google window will open with Pandora wants access to your Google Account.  Click on Continue.
  • A Google window will open with OAuth2 authentication progress:Completed.  Close the window.
  • Pandora will complete the check of mail.

Hope this helps.

Hi Again,

Rechecked and verified all settings were as you said. Still get the same "App Blocked" screen.

Also tried with a different Gmail account and got the same result.

I have exhausted everything I know to try.

Perhaps some else will have some ideas.

Did you do these steps to purge from Google any knowledge of Pandora?

Yes I did.

Just a few little while ago I heard from Brana that they are investigating the issue. Seems I'm not the only one having the problem.

OAuth2 Steps Empty Google??

Wed Sep 28, 2022 5:27 pm
Hi,

I am new to this forum. I am setting up Pandora because Eudora cannot handle OAuth2. However, after installing it and transferring my settings and mailboxes to Pandora, when I go to download new e-mails, I am sent to a page where I am asked to sign in to a Google account.

I have no Google account.

I do not want a Google account.

I keep everything Alphabet as far away from me as I can.

My university uses Microsoft Office365. How can I sign in using that?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Please show the information in the properties for the personality being setup with OAuth2 authentication:

  • Checking Mail
    • POP Server?
    • Account Type
    • Authentication
    • Secure Sockets when Receiving?

  • Sending Mail
    • Sending Mail SMTP Server?
    • Authentication?
    • Secure Sockets when Sending
    • Relay Personality?

Hopefully, the information will help determine what is going on.
