Can I cutomize shortcut keys? Empty Can I cutomize shortcut keys?

Mon Aug 29, 2022 11:15 pm
I'm so used to using Ctrl-F for "Find" on almost every program and keep instinctively trying to use it to open search. Is there a way to change the Ctrl-F shortcut so it opens Search instead?

Thanks!

I just came here looking for an answer to the same question. Some keystrokes are embedded in muscle memory, and CTRL-F is up there with CTRL-S :-).

OK, I think I found it.

Settings > Toolbar and Hot-Keys... (hadn't noticed that option before)

First, in Messages, I deleted CTRL+F from Forward because I don't need a hotkey for that. Then, in Tools, I changed Find Messages from CTRL-F3 to CTRL+F (by clicking that key combination while in the Hot-Key box) and then clicking "Set."

Close Settings, and now CTRL-F brings up the Find Message window, like it should have in the first place.

If only some of the other issues I'm fighting were that easy. :-)
