Limiting clearing formatting to just selected text
Thu Aug 15, 2024 8:02 pm
I am a new user to Pandora, but I've been an Eudora user for decades - literally! I'm a complete fan!
There are some problems in Pandora's body editor. One of them is limiting clearing formatting to just selected text.
Sometimes, when composing an email, have made an error in formatting a bit of text, so I want to remove that formatting. To do so, I select the text and look for a tool to remove that text's formatting. So far, I've had no luck...
- I tried edit>format>clear>formatting (ctrl+space) and was horrified to discover that all formatting across the entire email was gone!
- So, I looked further and found edit>format>plain Text. Nope. Same story!
Then worse! The formatting toolbar was grayed out! Apparently, the edit>format>yadayadayada tools actually disable formatting for the entire email! And I still don't know how to turn the toolbar back on.
Actually, I just now discovered that edit>format>Switch Format toggles formatting mode. So, I now at least I know how to ungray the formatting toolbar.
So to recap:
- edit>format>plain Text removes formatting for the entire email,
- edit>format>Switch Format does the exact same thing. [Why have two tools with identical function?]
- edit>format>Switch Format toggles formatting but does not restore the lost format codes.
- And there is nothing that removes or toggles formatting for only selected text.
Am I missing something?
Is there a way to clear formatting selectively instead of globally?
If not, is there an intention to add that functionality?
Thanks,
Dave Cole

Dave,
When you are composing message, there is is a Formatting bar at the top of the composing mail window. Select the text you wish to remove formatting on then click on the tool that is circled in this graphic.
Hope this helps.
