Attaching files on LAN connected drives Empty Attaching files on LAN connected drives

Sat Aug 17, 2024 12:08 pm
I tried attaching a file from a drive located on a different PC on my network. I got a "drive not found" message. In attach's file-open dialog, I navigated up to "this PC" to see why not. I was surprised to see that only my local hard drives were listed. At the same time a File Explored window showed both the local hard drives as well as all NET USE connected hard drives from other PCs on my network.

My workaround was to copy the desired file to a temp local folder, then I was able to attach it just fine.

Dave,

I have two Windows machines on my network: mine and my wife;s.  I create a new message, and then go to menu item File|Attach, left click,  a window opens and on the left are several buttons: Quick access, Desktop, Libraries, This PC, and Network.  Left+click on This PC shows the Devices and drives on this computer.  I can move through the folders and attach any file.

If I go to menu item File|Attach or Crtl+H, select Network from the Attach window, there are two computers shown: mine and my wife's.  I can select either Network icon, go to any folder, select a file, and attach it to the email.

I do not have any experience sharing files from my wife;s computer so I do not understand what is different about your environment.  Someone else will have to help.

Regards,

Butch
