Attach Folder Empty Attach Folder

Thu Feb 10, 2022 1:05 am
Everything that came over from Eudora when I changed is fine but I'm noticing that in the Attach folder .jpg's that I paste (inline) are saved as .bmp.

There are a large number of files bb9753ca-87ef-450c-b842-53f47359649f is an example that are binary but have "‰PNG" as the the first line. Putting the .png extension on renders in XnView (my default image program). The odd named .png files I think come in with html messages. Attachments are correct, do I have a setting wrong in Pandora for saving attached or inline images?

The options to control attachments is found at Settings | General | Attachments in the first option Store.  There are two option lines: attachments as files and inline images as files,  and two options on each line: sent and received.  By leaving the four options unchecked, the files and inline images are saved in the mailbox as part the message.  Checking the options on these two lines causes the file to be save in the appropriate folder and not in the mailbox with the message.

There are two folder specifications: Attachments folder and Inline images folder, to set the desired folder where attachments and inline images are stored.  Click in the appropriate box to browse to the desired folder.

I highly recommend clicking on Settings | General to explore the many Pandora Options.  Also, click on Settings, then Select General, and then Shift+Left+Click to open a list of Pandora options not included in Settings | General .

Hope this helps.

I did have an "attachments" folder that everything was going into, I now also have an "inline-images" folder that images are going in. I still have a large number of files that when sent to hexedit show PNG as the first word in a binary file. Why don't they have the .png extension attached?

I did a mass rename of all the files and it turns out that none of them are worth saving other than they might be needed to view the message they came attached to.

If inline images have nonsensical names and/or no extensions that's because they were sent that way.

Probably in order to avoid generic names used in advertisement (banner.png) and higher junk score.
