Mail Listing per SENDER MAIL ADDRESS [RESOLVED]
Mon Mar 27, 2023 7:42 pm
Pandora shows in its emails listings only the „personalities“ or whatever the sender writes in front of his „sender mail address“, and it shows only what it uses for listing.
If I have the emails sorted by alphabet it uses only this – which is a nuisance, since often these „titles“ are a sort of changing advertisement for many shop addresses.
Is there a way of getting Pandora to (always) list the actual MAIL ADDRESS, i.e. the expression XYZ@abd.yz, in an additional column, and allow mail to be sorted by such a mail address column (which is the way most email clients incl. Eudora and Outlook do) ?

Rationale behind using sender's name (as specified by sender, via From-field) is that your correspondent may have several mail addresses,
and so in order to group the entire correspondence, we use his/her name instead, which is changed less frequently.
For that reason, Eudora and many other early clients, were using names, not e-mail addresses, inside mailbox summaries.
Sure, in this day and age it's not always preferable, so we'll be able to define "what is Who", in the similar fashion as we can define Date-field now (date-downloaded, date-transferred, date-created).
There will also be 3 options: Name, e-mail, name & e-mail.
As a temporary work-around, you can use quick look-up feature, to view names and e-mails:
1. Open any mailbox.
2. Press Ctrl+Num . [Dot on numeric keypad]
and so in order to group the entire correspondence, we use his/her name instead, which is changed less frequently.

People who post under several email addresses sometimes have subtle variations of the personality/name text, though, deliberately making them different so that there's a visual cue (to them) as to which address they're using. Eg one might be "J Nicoll" or "Jeremy Nicoll" or "JEF Nicoll" or "Jeremy EF Nicoll" or .... to say nothing of "J N (work)" and "JEFN (play)"... - I use the latter approach myself.

Maybe you also need "Email address + Name", so people can have displays sorted by email address but still see the sender's personality/name text?
Alternatively one should be able to dsplay more than one such column, separating the sender's name and emal address - that tends to look neater than having a short name line followed by one with a long name.

KHP-444, this is possible now:
1. Right-click Who column header.
2. Choose 'Full Name & EMail' or 'E-Mail'.
Note - Default option is 'Full Name', so after you create a mailbox, this has to be done once.

- How to distinguish mail FROM same address & same subject TO different email addresses ?
- For outgoing mail, can the dominant personality NOT be the *default* 'From' email address?
